StemCells, Inc. to Present at Annual UBS Warburg Global Life Sciences Conference

PALO ALTO, Calif., September 15, 2003 – Martin McGlynn, President and CEO and Dr. Ann Tsukamoto, VP of R&D of StemCells, Inc. (NASDAQ: STEM) will give a presentation to analysts, fund managers and other financial professionals on StemCells, Inc.'s technology, recent preclinical results and plans for continued growth and development of the Company at the Fifth Annual UBS Warburg Global Life Sciences Conference. The conference will be held at The Plaza Hotel in New York, NY from September 22-25, 2003. The StemCells, Inc. presentation will take place on September 23, 2003 at 12:30 PM (EST).

A live audio web cast of the presentation will also be available on the UBS website at www.ibb.ubs.com. An audio replay of the presentation will begin 3 hours after the presentation time and will be available until October 25, 2003.
