StemCells To Present at BIO 2004 International Convention

PALO ALTO, Calif., June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Martin McGlynn, President & CEO, and Dr. Ann Tsukamoto, VP R&D, of StemCells, Inc. (Nasdaq: STEM) will participate in the BIO 2004 International Convention. The conference will be held at The Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, CA from June 6-9, 2004. StemCells, Inc. will give a corporate presentation on June 8, 2004 at 12:00 PM (PDT).

Mr. McGlynn will provide an overview of StemCells Inc.'s tissue derived stem cell technology and will give a progress report on the Company's stated goal of filing its first IND no later than Q1 2005. The purpose of that IND will be to evaluate the Company's proprietary human neural stem cell as therapeutic for Batten Disease, a rare, always fatal neurodegenerative disease that is a member of the Lysosomal Storage Disease family. A review of the Company's current business development strategy will also be presented.
