StemCells, Inc. to Present at UBS Global Life Sciences Conference

PALO ALTO, Calif., (September 20, 2007) – StemCells, Inc. (NASDAQ: STEM) today announced that Martin McGlynn, President and Chief Executive Officer, will present at the UBS Global Life Sciences Conference in New York, NY on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Mr. McGlynn plans to report on the progress of the company’s ongoing Phase 1 clinical trial in neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis, plans for expanding the company’s Neural Program to additional indications, and an update on the company’s Liver Program, including a new initiative to develop a cell-based therapy for liver diseases. There will be a breakout session following the presentation at which Mr. McGlynn will be available to answer questions about the company.

A live webcast of the presentation, including the slides used in the presentation, will be hosted on the company’s web site at www.stemcellsinc.com. The audio portion of the presentation will also be available through the UBS Investment Bank web site at www.ibb.ubs.com.
